Join Israel’s Annual Bible cycle

Every year, the People of Israel complete the annual cycle of reading the Torah. This tradition of reading the same Torah portion all around the world has kept Israel united since the Torah was first given at Mount Sinai, even when the people were dispersed in exile. This tradition changes the act of reading the Bible into a much larger, global initiative, an unending cycle of serving the God of Israel and bringing the Torah alive in our everyday existence.

And the many peoples shall go and say: “Come, Let us go up to the Mount of Hashem, To the House of the God of Yaakov; That He may instruct us in His ways, And that we may walk in His paths.” For instruction shall come forth from Tzion, The word of Hashem from Yerushalayim. Isaiah 2:3

This aspect of an annual cycle of Bible study connected to the land of Israel is hinted at in Deuteronomy:

It is a land which Hashem your God looks after, on which Hashem your God always keeps His eye, from year's beginning to year's end. Deuteronomy 11:12

It is this verse that inspired Rabbi Tuly Weisz to create The Israel Bible. As he wrote in the commentary:

This is the only time the Bible tells us how Hashem “spends His time.” From the beginning of the year until the end, it says, the Creator of the universe focuses “His eyes” and attention on Israel. If we combine this idea with that mentioned in verse 22 instructing us to walk in Hashem’s ways and hold fast to Him, we must likewise keep our eyes focused on Eretz Yisrael “from year’s beginning to year’s end.” This verse inspired Rabbi Tuly Weisz to start “Israel365,” which enables hundreds of thousands of people all over the world to connect with Israel each and every day of the year.

As Rabbi Weisz noted, it is a mitzvah (commandment) to “walk in all of God’s ways” (la’lechet b’khol drachav), an aspect of serving God that is also practiced in Christianity, which emphasizes the importance of striving to be more God-like in our lives.
